A definition of irony:
Being challenged to blog a picture of the sun...on a day when it never makes an appearance.
Well, I guess it wouldn't be much of a photo-a-day challenge if it didn't test my skills from time to time!
Sadly, even though the weather conditions made it a little tricky to strictly adhere to the expected rules of play, the overcast day was really appropriate here in Rozetta, where today we celebrated the life of a dear member of our church family.
Frank was one of those guys who filled any room he was in. If there was a hilarious story to be told, Frank would tell it. If someone was in desperate need of a good teasing, Frank was the guy for the job. If anyone in the church basement was laughing until tears ran down his face, Frank was probably in the mix somewhere.
Anyone with a personality that big leaves an awfully big emptiness in the lives of the people he leaves behind.
But what a blessing to know that, as much as he loved life, he loved the Lord even more. And believe me when I say that Frank is just one more reason to look forward to Heaven!
One of the perks of my job is that I get to help with some of the behind-the-scenes business of the church. Yesterday that meant that I got to scan a bunch of sweet and hilarious pictures of Frank and his family so we could put together a slide show of memories for the visitation.
And if you didn't get the chance to know Frank in this life, you'll just have to believe me when I tell you that he would get a big kick out of the fact that I'm blaming him for my falling behind on my blog assignment yesterday. It had nothing to do with poor time management on my part...it was all his fault for living such an interesting and well-photographed life! Thanks a lot, Frank! ;-)
I think he would also like it that I'm going to share a couple of his pictures with you, because even though I didn't have any sunshine to photograph today, Frank was a guy who obviously knew how to have a little fun in the sun!

To Frank's list of talents, add rock-climbing!

We couldn't find anyone who knew what was up with this... or at least no one who was admitting anything!

Yes, I know this picture was taken indoors, but you gotta admit... those pants are brighter than the sun!
Tomorrow we will take a peek at my front door! (I think I can probably handle that one, regardless of what the weather does!)
Blessings!

Precious in the sight of the Lord
is the death of his faithful servants.
